It's Swap Time!

Hey Diva's, Happy Wednesday to you all! I hope you all are having an Awesome week Thus Far I know I am!! I wanted to drop in to tell you all about one of the Exciting things I am participating in for the year of 2012. In October of this year I started Swapping in a Group called Scrappin Sista's Monthly Swaps, the group is spear headed by Christel of One Scrappin Sista. For those that aren't familiar with what Swapping is let me give you my version of it lol it's where a group of people sign-up for a particular swap for that months theme and we all create our version of the assignment. We then put them in the mail and send it to the Host she can swap them out. She then sends us back 1 of each persons swap (Ex. If there are 20 people in a group I would have to make 20 of the same item mail it off then in return I would get 1 swap from each participant plus my own so I would receive 20 swaps back) Does that make sense lol if not contact Christel and she can explain it better :)
I have been having soooo much fun w/ these Swaps, I have met new friends and I have thought outside the box with my crafting. In 2012 Christel has some swaps that are going to really push our creativity and I am so looking forward to it. I would love for you all to join us and if you are interested Please let me know! Posted below is all the information for this coming swap:

It’s swap time again. LET'S GET TO SWAPPING!!  Let me start by introducing myself…My name is Shalana Glass AKA the new Sign Up Director for Scrappin Sista Monthly Swaps. My role will be to coordinate all swap sign ups. Please read through all the details and if you are SERIOUSLY interested, please email me at nonchalan...taka@yahoo.com  to express your commitment to the Swap. The swap will be limited to the first 20 participants who sign up. If we have an overwhelming response to this swap we will look to form a second group.

For the month of January we are hosting an Altered Journal with a Stick Pin Swap. This will be a 1 to 1 Swap meaning you will be paired with a Swap partner creating one Altered Journal with a set of three Stick Pins. Something new we will be doing this year is incorporating the use of color palettes from  wwww.design-seeds.com. The color scheme we will be using for the January Swap is pictured below.

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?
1. Send me an email confirming your commitment during the sign up period which begins  today and ends January 5th.
2. Wait for your confirmation email from me.
3. Review the January color palette.
4. Get your mental wheels turning and CREATE! Please make sure you put forth your best effort…quality, quality quality!

Further details will be mailed to you in a confirmation email so again, to sign-up, please send an email to nonchalantaka (at) yahoo (dot) com.  Remove the parenthesis and spaces.  Put "January Swap" in the subject line.

DEADLINE:
All Swap items will be due by the 28th of January so please have them postmarked by the 21st.   Please do not sign up if you CANNOT commit to being on time.

Scrapping Sista has a Facebook group dedicated to these swaps so information will be posted on her blog as well as in the group.  If you are not Scrappin' Sista's (Christel Young Bonner's) Facebook friend, please send a request (include a note about who you are) and you'll be added to the group for the month.

We at Scrappin' Sista Monthly Swaps look forward to a great month and making many new friends.  Have fun and let’s create.  Happy scrappin'!

I hope you all will come join us! I would love to see you there!

Merry Day After Christmas!

Hey Diva's, Merry Day After Christmas! I pray that you all had a Wonderful and Blessed Christmas. My day was Truly Blessed and very busy, I didn't get in the bed until around 3:30am Christmas Morning wrapping gifts and strategically placing them under the tree ( I don't know why I wait to the night before every year to do this), the kiddos were up @ 7am anxious to see what awaited them. After all the excitement we cleaned up the mounds of paper and boxes and started getting ready for the day. My mom and Aunt went to the kitchen and around noon my whole neighborhood had a power outage (yayyyyy lol). We had Hungry children and Hungry Adults and things were starting to get "UGLY" FAST! Crew member 5 decided she was going to have a melt down Crew Member 2 was upset her Kindle Fire wasn't working so she had a melt down Crew Member 3 was anxious to get outside with all her friends and their new bikes so she kept bugging me every 5 secs. Because they couldn't finish the Basketball Game all the men kept coming back and forth in the kitchen and opening the stove just to "Check" as if this was going to summons the power fairies to come and turn the power on or something.

But needless to say around 1:30pm the power came back on and EVERYONE was Happy! After eating the ladies cleaned the Kitchen and the men were back off to their Basketball Games. We then played a few games of Taboo (My team won all 3 games whoot whoot!) we then started to prepare for bed and I finally got to lay back down around 1130pm.

Even though we had some minor mishaps it was a Blessing to be able to spend time with my family! I wanted to pop in on you guys yesterday but as you read I was Completely Swamped as I know you all were to! Thank You guys for stopping in I love You ALL and From My House to Yours we hope you had a Merry Christmas!!

25 Days of Christmas: Day 8

Hey Diva's! So I totally missed yesterday's post...My Bad! I told you guys I was going to try and get a project done everyday and so far I think I've done pretty good so keep your fingers crossed and let's just act like I got one done yesterday lol. So I have been seeing ALOT of pictures of everyone's Christmas trees and I had taken a picture of my own tree a couple of days ago  to send to my mom to see what she thought was missing and I decided hey that would be great for today's post!

One Tree in particular that I thought was so steenkn cute, was from a blog that I LOVE LOVE LOVE it's called TheBabyShopaholic To all my Crafty Friends who are also Fashionistas you  want to go check her blog out! Trina is always hip to what's Hot in the Fashion World and she has the cutest little girl named Peyton who is a fashionista in her own right! Go check them out and check their Christmas tree out this year Here it is Adorable!!

But I won't hold you any longer here is my tree:
Sorry for the dark picture I hadn't planned on posting it!

I usually change my colors every year (last year I did Blue and Silver whoot whoot GO COWBOYS)! It seems as though Silver has made its way onto my tree just about every year now that I think about it. I had wanted to do Pink sooo bad and I didn't think the hubster was going to go for it but he said it was fine and I am sooo glad he did because I love this Pink and Silver Combo! It is non-traditional and I love that! But anyway let me know what you all think!

25 Days of Christmas: Day 6

Hey Diva's! I am sorry about these late posts but I just can't seem to get to my laptop before 4pm to get these posts up. Most of the time I make my projects @ night because that's when I have "PEACE" around here and I like to wait til daylight to take my pics because I love the Natural light better. I think I'm going to have to make a Light Box b/c this is just becoming to be ALOT. If you all know of any good tutorials on light boxes let me know.

Todays Card was fun to make, I hadn't made an easel card in forever. As you all know I love the "Twisted Easel" style but hadn't played around much with just the regular "Easel" style. I am pleased w/ how it turned out. What do you all think?

I seriously Just Hung out w/ the family yesterday, I didn't really feel like crafting, So no project from me (you guys forgive me Right??). But I did find some Holiday Music that I thought I would share with you guys. You all may not know, but I LOVE me some Beyonce and when Destiny Child came out w/ this CD I played it a billion times during the holidays I'm talking in the house, in the car, on my portable cd player (I just gave my age away huh, lol). I just found it when I pulled out my Chrsitmas Decor so now this is and a couple of other Holiday Favorite cd's are in full rotation in the house. I went to youtube to see if they had the video so I could share one of my favorite DC Christmas songs and Hopefully this will give you a Boost to either stay in the Christmas Spirit or Get there for those of you who just aren't there yet lol. Hope You Enjoy!

25 Days of Christmas : Day 4

Hey Diva's! Happy Sunday, today I'm going to be really quick! Today's project was inspired from something I saw on Pinterest ( that site is sooo addicting it's ridiculous lol) I can't remember which site it came from but if you all know please tell me so I can credit them!

Like most of you know we just moved to VA from GA. We had to leave our Home behind that we just bought 2 1/2yrs ago to move into a townhome w/ no backyard, neighbors who like to let their dogs poop in your yard (I'll have to tell you all that story @ another time) and ugly cabinets and coutertops lol! I totally HATE strongly dislike this kitchen in this house (I know that sounds a little harsh I'm sorry guys). So I needed something to make this Kitchen look a little more Chrismassy because it was just DrabVIlle USA. As I was thinking what to do the pin came back to my memory that I saw on pinterest where the person took some ribbon and hung it on the cabinets so that they could display their Christmas Cards by paper clipping the cards to the ribbons. The light bulb clicked on (*DING*) I had all this pink ribbon in the craft room that was just sitting there that I could use for these cabinets and it just so happened that it was the exact pink that I needed for my decor this year ( GOD is so GOOD). I found the bows @ the Dollar Tree they were 2 for a dollar and they were Silver PERFECT!!  Just that quick I am now loving my Kitchen! Let me know what you guys think!!

The Pictures just aren't doing it any justice ( I am a card maker not a photographer lol) but I'm telling you it is GORGE!!
But anyway, that's it for today ! Let me know what you guys think! Have a Great Rest of your Weekend!

25 Days of Christmas: Day 3

Hey Divas! So today is Day 3 of my 25 Days of Christmas Project but before I start I need to inform you on a couple of things! First off Kristal Andrew of Getting Cricky is looking for Featured Crafters on her Blog. If you are into paper, altered art, stamping, digi coloring, upcycling or ALL OF THE ABOVE and more SHE WANTS YOU!! Being featured on her blog is a great way to share your art w/ others and also to inspire them! She is also very sweet into offering all featured bloggers a 40% discount on your next purchase of her stamps! Now that really ROCKS!! If you are intersted contact Deborah Foti @ ustoleit@comcast.net.

Second, there is a new challenge going on over @ MAG Challenge by the page. This weeks Challenge is to use the Stretch Your Imagination Cartridge pg. 52. Remember that you are asked to use the cartridge and page specified ONLY! Stop by and see all the Awesome project Inspiration the Design Team has for you and then come join in on the fun, we look forward to having you!!

Last but definitely not least I wanted to remind you of the My Sheri Crafts Decorate for Christmas Challenge that is still going on. You still have a few days to get your projects in so get busy busy busy guys remember Crafting Fingers are Happy Fingers!!

Now onto to the project for today, I want to say that this card is by far not my favorite but I didn't become to dislike it as much as I do now until I asked Crew member 1 and his Father ( did you notice I'm not his friend right now so he's not "babe" or "the hubster" lol) what they thought and they both immediately didn't like it and gave me a whole laundry list of reasons why they didn't like it. MEN I tell you the truth, they had me hating this card by the end of the night so much so that I didn't want to even post it. I was going to just start all over from scratch but I told myself "Not every project is going to be our favorite" but that doesn't mean that Someone is not going to like it! So I am taking one for the team and I am posting it anyway!! I will let you all decide, How do you feel about this card ( tell the truth guys I wanna see if the men are right on this one lol).

So for the 1st project in the series I decided to get started on my daughter's Christmas Party Decorations, she asked if she could have a little get together w/ some friends, I told her that was fine so we are now starting to prepare for the 17th. I will post more pics of other projects as we finish them.

I am so happy to be joining the Wonderful Girls over @ Getting Cricky for this week's Simply Sunday Challenge! As you guys know I got picked up for the GC team and I am soo so Happy! For this week's Simply Sunday Challenge we are to Give Thanks! I am Thankful for so many things so it was hard to just pick one project! But the one thing that did stick out in my mind was when I lived in GA we really didn't get to enjoy the Seasons. GA has really one season Summer lol, even though it does get a little chilly you don't get to see the changing colors of the leaves in Fall or the Snow in Winter. So since moving to VA my family has really been able to ENJOY the seasons. I also looked at things in a spiritual aspect of it, even though we loved GA our season there was up and it was time for a change! So that is what my Card represents me be thankful for "Seasons".

The inside sentiment reads as:
"To Everything there is a Season and a Purpose under heaven." Ecclesiastes 3-1
